Having had many contentious episodes about nurses involved with reporting other nurses r/t nursing of patients I would so often wonder the seriousness of the public health dangers we are viewing. So often damages fall upon patients whose knowledgeable information about their own condition is very limited. The designated role of all nursing should maintain what they’re trained to do. The application of safety principles can be monitored, or not, and so often the greatest American capitalism theater rolls over everything justice misses and uses nurses & patients to do so. Nursing is like the justice department; it can do its job, or not. This fact is well noted throughout the health care system which will display nurses offending other nurses for the higher financial road. This can easily be demonstrated via governmental regulations involved with high rolling attorneys appropriated to protect their capitalism gains. The bus is waiting and all warmed up to run over nurses who talk the wrong language. The truth in nursing of the covid era and post pandemic events are about counting money; health care in the U.S. is the highest form of American capitalism that is strictly a crap shoot for the general safety of the public. After working as an RN in the U.S. for over 40 years, I quite agree with the dangers you mention. I love nursing, but working in the health care system is like walking among landmine hidden bombs. I’ve watched as Capitalism has undermined pragmatic, quality care in the U.S. The Covid measures, to me, were an end game symbol of a sinister, slow unwinding, a continual decline in quality of care that has happened over the years from greed, fraud and waste. The ‘Emergency Use Authorization’ that waived patient’s rights under a proclaimed ‘Covid pandemic’ completely uprooted the principles that were established at Nuremburg in 1946. Our nursing ethics originate in International Human Rights codes such as the Nuremburg Code which guarantees the individual the right to ‘informed consent’ for treatments and invasive procedures. Informed consent creates a layer of protection for the patient and the provider, but represents hesitation or obstruction of profits. The declaration of ’emergency’ allowed Big Pharma to get around protections and make a lot of profit off of a poorly tested product. Here we have a perfect example of the dangers of End-Stage Capitalism.
My hope is that it will be a lesson for us going forward, by giving us a deeper understanding of what science is and what our ethical roles are. Right now, I see a lot of moral distress among nurses, another sign of a need for healing. We need to reach out to one another, so I’m thankful for websites like this one.
